The idea for Greene Letter Law came from my own work as a family law litigator and practitioner.
First, as a young attorney, the higher courts acted as my tutor. The Appellate Courts and Supreme Court provide background and analysis of established legal principals before rendering their opinions. As a young attorney, many of these principles were new to me, and the background and analysis taught me the tenets of family law.
As I gained more experience, the background continued to offer a refresher of laws I already knew, or had already forgotten. In all stages of my career, from my early years to the present, I always benefitted from timely reading of the cases because I knew the most current law. Once I started reading the cases, I found myself citing them regularly. It became my secret superpower and tool to advocate for my clients.
While it is never too early to know a new law, it can be too late. If an opinion is published that could have impacted your case, but you only read about it after settlement, or after litigation, that opportunity is lost forever.
Whether you are new to Family Law, refreshing what you know, or simply staying current on the law, there is something for you in the opinions issued every month. My goal for Greene Letter Law is to share my superpower with you.
